This month, we’re challenging you to get out of your comfort zone and celebrate other local business owners! Follow the steps below, complete the challenge, and submit it in for a chance to win some big prizes!
Interview A Local Business
The Challenge: The most celebrated agents, in any community, are those who go out of their way to celebrate others. There is no better way to build a referral business with other entrepreneurs than helping spread the word about their business. So find a local bakery, coffee shop, book store, etc. and interview them. You can do it in video format or in a podcast. Tell the store owner you’re interviewing local shops that leave a positive mark on the community. See if they’d be willing to give your sphere an exclusive coupon to their shop, as an added perk to your audience. By contributing to the growth and success of other people in your community, you in turn give people the opportunity and desire to help you grow and succeed.
Step 1: Find a local shop: book store, restaurant, bakery, coffee shop, public event area, etc. Ask the owner if they’d be willing to do an interview on how they got started and what value they bring to the community. Let them know you want to start emphasizing on the local business owners who make your community a great place to live. Tell them your video/podcast will be shared throughout your social media accounts, your website, and in community groups - to get their business exposure.
Step 2: You’re doing the interview to build a bond with other business owners and their families, but also as a way to get you more in front of your community. Instead of making it feel like a spammy ad, just make it a neighborhood highlight video. Ask if the business owner would be willing to share an exclusive promo with you to give to your local audience so everyone benefits from the exposure.
Step 3: At the end of the video, separate from the interview (not while you’re with the other business owner), add another video clip or podcast clip that quickly “advertises” you by reminding the community that you’re a local real estate expert and plan on highlighting key features in the community that locals should know and care about.
Step 4: Publish your post on as many platforms as possible, to get the most exposure. The point of a video like this is to build your brand name by valuing what others are building in your community. Post it on your website as a blog post, post it on YouTube, Instagram, your Facebook business page, local Facebook groups, etc. If it ends up being a success, you can make it a weekly or monthly highlight you share with your audience.
Step 5: Once you’ve published your post to your business page, submit your video link to us through “The Prize” page. The link needs to specifically be for your Facebook business page where you have the video published. We’ll review your video for an opportunity to win the April prize!
